Lavendar Cotton (Santolina chamaecyparissus) is an evergreen ground cover that grows 2′ tall and 3-4′ wide which flowers in the late spring. Leaves have a distinct odor when foliage is crushed. This plant is very drought tolerant, but needs good drainage and full sun (used a lot in Texas). Needs pruning every year. Very intolerant to shade and poor drainage. A member of the Asteraceae family. Hardy to zone 6.
